How to Measure for a Bra
You will need the following items:
- Soft measuring tape (*see below for directions on how to measure without a tape.)
- Piece of paper
- Pen
Before measuring, wear either a fitted t-shirt or a tank top. Do not wear a sports bra or any bra while measuring – we want to get the most accurate measurement possible!

A - BAND MEASUREMENT
This measurement is taken around the body just under your bust, around your upper rib cage.
Hold the measuring tape by the start of the tape where it says ‘zero’ and measure around the body under your bust, overlapping the tape at your center and holding it taut. Do not squeeze or pinch your skin. Make sure the tape is level and horizontal (see photo).
Holding the tape, breathe in and exhale, then take the measurement to the nearest 1/4".
Sometimes it helps to stand in front of a mirror when taking measurements.
Write down this measurement. (Example: 32 ½”)
B - BUST MEASUREMENT
This measurement is taken around the fullest part of the bust. Hold the measuring tape at zero and measure around the bust line—keep it taut but not compressing the skin.
Holding the tape, breathe in and exhale, and then take the measurement to the nearest 1/4".
Write this measurement down. (Example: 34 ½”)
